A dip belt is one of the easiest ways to go beyond the limitations of bodyweight training by adding weight to dips, chin ups  and muscle ups.

Anyone who has tried holding a dumbbell between their ankles doing these exercises knows how annoying it can be, especially when trying to hold a decent amount of weight.  And having a person hanging from you is all well and good but what if you want to train alone or can't find the right sized person?

A good dip belt is comfortable, easy to attach a weight to and capable of holding enough weight to build real strength.

Iron Edge has recently developed its own dip belt with the above requirements in mind.  The Iron Edge Dip Belt is made of highly durable nylon with neoprene padding so that it sits comfortably on your lower back.  The weight you wish to add is simply threaded onto a chain and suspended in front of the body.  The chain is attached via a carabiner for quick and easy loading and unloading (great for things like drop sets).

The Iron Edge Dip Belt can hold up to 50kg, and that weight can come in the form of anything you can thread onto the chain, such as weight plates, kettlebells, sandbags, tyres or anything else you have handy.

Dip belts are obviously good for taking bodyweight exercises like dips and chin ups to the next level, but they're not limited to that and can be used to load up movements such a squats in a way that minimises pressure on the lower back.

So if you want to chase the weighted pull up record that Steven Proto set last year, now's the time to get yourself a good dip belt...
