The Iron Edge Spartan Race Program is a compre- hensive training schedule aiming to prepare anyone considering taking up the ultimate in obstacle course racing challenges: the successful completion of an epic Spartan Race.

But where does one start? Especially if you’re new to the OCR scene, or just looking to embark upon the ever rewarding and epically challenging race of all obstacle course races; all for the first time. What kind of training would you need? What kind of obstacles and challenges will you face? What kind of skills would you need to develop? And what are the specific components of fitness that will give you that positive edge for successful completion?

All of these questions are where we come in, know- ing only too well from firsthand experience how tough and challenging the Spartan race can actually be. But it doesn’t stop here, because we also understand that if you try and jump into this kind of challenge without any form of a plan, it will only result in a doomed course of epic burpee failure.

The Iron Edge Spartan Race programs have been designed by two experienced leaders in the field of obstacle course racing. They have been developed for the first timer or beginner in mind, compiling a periodised strategy for not only keeping clear of the dreaded burpee penalty, but for establishing a new personal best, record and a whole stack of positive experiences.

This progressive strategy, when followed over the course of structured weeks, will help develop the endurance and specific strength and conditioning needed for tackling the obstacles, terrain and overall distance that you will face, whether it is a 7km Sprint or a 14km Super.

In essence, this is the best training strategy available. So if you are serious about taking up the Spartan Race challenge, this is the wisest choice available in terms of smart and specific preparation for successful race completion and injury prevention.

THE SPRINT AND SUPER PROGRAM

There are 2 specific Iron Edge Spartan programs, both tailored for the beginner, aiming to prepare you for either the Spartan Sprint or the Spartan Super, with little to no previous experience required.

The sprint is a 7km race, shorter and sharper, where as the super is 14km, which is twice the distance and twice the challenge.

These programs are aimed at those who have little to no experience in the world of obstacle course racing. This program is a great way to prepare the body for what you are about to face, giving you the strength, conditioning and skills to take up the challenge. So if you have never competed at a Spartan Race, this is where you want to start.
